Our goal is simple.
Talking with a Phonic agent should feel like you’re talking to a human.

Our Manifesto

Voice is the most natural interface for an agent.

Every transition in computing has spawned a new interface. When computers got more powerful, we went from the command line to the GUI. When they got smaller, we went from the mouse to the touchscreen. Now, as computers get smarter, we're going from a GUI to conversation.

If a conversation is the new primitive for computing, then voice is the best way to have a conversation.

We believe that the current paradigm of voice is held back by fragile systems that barely work. If voice agents become more and more human-like, we believe developers end up creating new use cases that we could have never imagined.

Why? It's very simple: we see how our customers are building on voice AI. They started by using Phonic with customer support. Next, our customers started using Phonic for outbound sales. Then, they automated the phone screen with an AI recruiter. Their voice conversations are only getting longer and more complex. As the incremental cost of running a voice conversation goes to zero, they keep discovering new forms of work for voice agents to do. The demand is insatiable.

We believe that we are very early into a generational shift for voice as a UX for computers. If you want to reinvent one of the most fundamental interfaces to interact with agents, come join us. After all, who doesn’t want to interact with Jarvis?

The Team

Meet the researchers and engineers behind our platform.

Phonic's researchers and engineers work on the entire stack: pre-training from scratch, mid-training, post-training, optimizing inference, and forward deploying with our customers to ensure they're successful. We have fun, work hard, and sweat the details.

01

Training Audio Models

Our researchers work across the full training lifecycle: from pre-training on petabytes of data, to mid-training for conversational intelligence, to post-training for naturalness, instruction following, and reliable behavior.

02

Optimizing Inference

Our inference engineers write custom kernels, optimize latency, and eliminate cold starts so customers can run voice AI at scale.

03

Highly Available Infrastructure

Uptime is table stakes. We build for 99.99% uptime that is resilient to bursty, scaling traffic, without sacrificing cost efficiency.

04

Forward Deployed Engineering

Our customers' problems are our problems. We forward deploy into our customers' offices and work alongside them to ensure a successful deployment.

Moin Nadeem

Co-founder & CEO

A generative AI and machine learning researcher with over 2,400 citations, Moin was the 8th employee at MosaicML, which was acquired by Databricks for $1bn. At Phonic, he leads the mission to make AI speak as intelligently as it thinks. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master's degree in Computer Science from MIT.

Nikhil Murthy

Co-founder & CTO

Nikhil drives the development of Phonic's voice AI platform. He previously worked on NVIDIA, Intel, and Genesis Therapeutics, where he led the foundation model team and trained state-of-the-art models for structure prediction. He earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Engineering and Computer Science from MIT in 2.5 years.
